Groundwater

GROUNDWATER

Groundwater is water found underground, in crevices and spaces in soil, sand and rocks. It is stored and moves slowly through geological formations of soil, sand and rock called aquifers. The total volume of Malaysia’s groundwater is estimated at 5000 billion m3 (Azuhan, 1999) and the rate of consumption varies by state. One of the most widespread groundwater abstraction methods in Malaysia is through water wells.
